SOUVENIR FROM WAR

(1914)

1914, a village in Alsace.

They gathered for the photo before going into battle. Jean writes to his daughter to give her news. It seems that the war will be short.
It is also said that it will not repeat itself.

Every day during one month, I painted a portrait on a linen canvas pre-cut in 40 x 50 cm format and coated with gesso tinted with a randomly chosen color.
Variations, repetition.
