VEULETTES-SUR-MER
(1907 – 2019)
This series tells the story of the loss of a family home. And asks the question of what is left of it, when everything is gone.
It is rooted in my personal history, and a call: “Hello, did you get the news…? It’s crazy! They came yesterday and threw everything in the dump, everything, everything, everything. In the trash! There is nothing left, the house is empty. It’s over.“
The family house was sold and then hastily emptied in 2019. I didn’t expect it, at least not like that. However, the last summer, when it was time to close the house, I got seized with doubt. So I took with me ordinary objects and a few books.
Time has passed since then. What’s left? It is now for me about telling the story of a family home and the memories attached to it. This series is intended to be an ethnography of the space based on photographs and the last remaining objects. The route takes place between the different locations, indoor/outdoor.
In this project I combine the mediums of photography, painting, imprint and transfer, always starting from the starting point of family photographs, “evidence” (to use Sontag’s terms) of this which was. A family house in Veulettes-sur-Mer.
